Foreign policies of the United States
The foreign administration of the United States of America priorities had change after the 9/11. But before these terrorist attacks, the international affairs where very vague, anyone was under surveillance by the United States, but one was seen as a menace for the nation. China was seen as the foreign nation that was dangerous for the security of the American land. Compare to Iraq, China was not seen as a enemy that United States needed to fight as soon as possible, it was more an economical competition that can be set subsequently. The real menace for the United States was, from their point of view, the emergence of radical Islamic movements. This new arrival fixed the new priorities for the US international affairs. The apparition of external terrorism was at the top of concerns with undoubtedly the weapons of mass destruction.

In 1990, the peace era in military and foreign affairs of the United States was coming to an end. The people of the nation were unsatisfied about their own external politics (34% of satisfaction) manage by Bush’s administration. Americans want to be a country as simple as many others are and they want to be a country that is not alone in conflict with certain countries. Even if the population would like to be more conservative and close to the world, the decision of the federal government acts in the way the country was under alert constantly, under alert of attacks and other dangers. Busch’s idea to go alone and fight against radical Islamists and terrorists was not very great perceived by other countries. The four most important European countries said that President Bush was making external policy only for his nation’s interest. Fighting terrorism will not generate issues for a long-term period, but only for a instant conflict resolution, and this is what the other countries, allies of the United States were denouncing. The war the US administration was leading was not against Middle Eastern countries, but it was against Islam and Muslims over the world, even and in United States, where racism against Muslims increases dramatically.

The idea of protecting their country, both Republicans and Democrats were friends in this fight where they would do whatever it takes to keep they homeland safe and secure. This led to an instant response to Iraq and Afghanistan by attacking them and makes war. To increase the fear of Muslim, the US government created the Department of Homeland Security, an organization is in charge of the US security and the fight against terrorists. The Department (DHS) has played an important role, and still today, in the security of plane transport.
