American impacts
Impacts of the 9/11 on America
The impacts of the terrorist attacks are more present in the United States then they are in foreign countries, for many reasons.
The government of the United States of American decides to increase the level of patriotism by their own politics:
· Influence American citizens to support their cherished United States in wartime
· Buy local products to reinforce the pride of being American and to make role the economy.
That proves the importance the government gave to the Interior politic, because it is at the basis of the system, a nation proud of its troops and proud of its economy will be more strength and will beat the foreign enemies more easily.
Not to encroach on the foreign politics topic, the terror climate the US government put in place few years ago is still in constant presence today and will probably stay in place for many years forthcoming. By adopting this approach, the image United States project of themselves is the poor victims in a big global problem against America. Instead, by playing the victim, the Americans can take advantage of a unique opportunity to spread the message and the template of Americanization around the world, especially on the Arab countries.
To come back more closely to the interior affairs of the government, we can observe a new climate in the congress, where Republicans and Democrats are united together for only one reason: to fight and win over the Taliban.
Continuing on the Arab repression overseas, into the American territory, the Arabs and the Muslims. After adopting anti-terrorism policies after the September 11 attacks, part of the American nation felt discriminate only because of the ideology government putted in the head of everyone. By adopting more strict laws for the Immigration and Naturalization Service (now part of the Department of Homeland Security) to registries more closely the visas attributed to males from Middle East countries. Around 6000 of them have been tracked by the Service in 2002, one year after the 9/11.
On a more concrete way, the economic impact of the 9/11 on the American society is intense and reaves. The most important expense USA did is the war. The cost of wars is astronomical, even the Federal Reserve cannot afford it, the government needed to borrow money from their allies. As a 2011 statistic, the Pentagon had to paid over 259 billions of dollars in debt. As they are not the only one to participate to the war procedures, the Department of Homeland Security had received a subvention of 455 billions of dollars they added t their original budget.
On the other hand, the public funds need to invest in the medical fees for the veterans of the wars, which grows day after day. At this point, over 136 billions have been invest in the medical care of one million of veterans. Moreover, this counter would not stop today, in 2013, it continues for another 30-40 years, totalling a 754 billions bill. An independent organisation made an estimate of the cost of the interests, which appears in their "U.S. Costs of Wars Through 2013: $3.1 Trillion and Counting", and it is evaluated at 1 trillion in 2023 and 7 trillions in 2053.
In a more visual and material way, as you probably observed, in South Manhattan, there is missing two gigantic buildings. There is missing two towers in the US, because of the terrorist attacks.
